Youth Against Misinformation:
Empowering Youth Voices for Truth, Participation and Change

MV International is proud to announce the theme of its 2026 Annual Campaign: “Youth Against Misinformation – Empowering Youth Voices for Truth, Participation and Change.” This year, MVI invites all partners across the network to join a shared effort to raise awareness about the growing impact of misinformation on young people, communities, and democratic life.

In today’s digital world, information travels faster than ever. Social media and online platforms influence how people understand current events, form opinions, interact with others, and participate in society. While these platforms offer powerful opportunities for learning, communication, activism, and youth participation, they can also become spaces where misinformation, hate speech, discrimination, stereotypes, and harmful narratives spread quickly.

Misinformation is not only a digital problem. It affects trust, dialogue, inclusion, and democratic participation. False or misleading content can create confusion, divide communities, reduce confidence in institutions, discourage civic engagement, and make it harder for young people to take informed decisions. For this reason, empowering youth to recognise, challenge, and respond to misinformation is essential for building stronger, safer, and more democratic societies.

Through the 2026 Annual Campaign, MVI aims to place young people at the centre of the response. The campaign will promote critical thinking, media literacy, responsible digital citizenship, respectful dialogue, and active participation. It will encourage young people to use their voices to defend truth, challenge harmful narratives, promote reliable information, and inspire positive change both online and offline.

A key element of the campaign will be the engagement of Digital Ambassadors, who will help bring the message of “Youth Against Misinformation” to wider audiences. As part of the Voices Amplified digital campaign under the Erasmus+ Structural Grant, MV International organised the workshop “Digital Ambassadors for Positive Online Change,” bringing together 10 young Digital Ambassadors from different MVI countries. The workshop explored how youth can use digital tools to combat hate speech, challenge misinformation, and promote democratic values online.

During the activity, participants reflected on their role not only as users of digital platforms, but also as creators, peer educators, influencers, and positive community voices. They discussed how their online presence can be used to raise awareness, share trustworthy messages, identify misinformation, challenge harmful content, and represent youth perspectives in public debate.

In this sense, youth-led online actions will be one of the main ways to activate the campaign. Digital Ambassadors will support the creation and dissemination of content, encourage peer-to-peer dialogue, promote positive messages, and help amplify the campaign across different countries and communities. Their creativity, authenticity, and connection with other young people will be essential in making the campaign relevant, accessible, and impactful.

MVI invites all partners to join this common social cause by organising local activities, awareness-raising actions, workshops, social media initiatives, youth-led discussions, and community events. Each partner can contribute to spreading the message and supporting young people in becoming active defenders of truth, participation, and democratic change.

Together, we can stand against misinformation and empower youth voices to build more informed, inclusive, and democratic societies.
